The webinar series presents the 8-Hour Training Tactics for the Modern Fire Service course through one lesson a week. Each one-hour presentation will provide an overview of a single module of the course and present concepts related to the presented topic. Each presentation will also demonstrate how each concept can be applied using an LMS. As you complete each webinar session, you will be provided with a certificate of module completion and allowed access to an asynchronous version of the course module to share with their members.

This webinar defines the first step of the process of developing a modern fire service training program. You will learn methods for conducting an actual needs assessment that the participant can use for assessing their own organization’s needs. This needs assessment begins with an organization statement that identifies what training the organization needs to complete on an initial/annual basis and concludes with a training plan to meet those requirements. The webinar will present an illustration of how an LMS can assist organizations with their needs assessment.

Todd Smith, CEO of Vigilant Fire Service Training
Todd Smith is the CEO and founder of Vigilant Fire Service Training. He has twenty-eight years of fire service experience, with the past eighteen years as a Training Officer. Smith has worked and trained with departments of all shapes and sizes, from the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) to a 15-member volunteer fire department in the heart of rural America. Todd is a certified New York State Municipal Fire Instructor.
